Paralympic athlete from Great Britain, long jumper Olivia Breen reported an unpleasant incident that happened to her at the national championships before the Paralympic Games in Tokyo (Japan). One of the organizers of the tournament expressed dissatisfaction with the length of her sports shorts, calling it “inappropriate”.
“I am always incredibly grateful to the volunteers who help to hold track and field competitions. They do an amazing job, which allows us to compete. However, I was disappointed tonight after I finished my performance in the long jump. One of the officials found it necessary to inform me that my sprint shorts were too short and inappropriate. I was just speechless.
I’ve been wearing one and the same underwear for many years, they are specially designed for such competitions. I hope I can wear them in Tokyo. This case made me doubt that a man would be criticized for such an occasion,” Breen wrote on her Twitter.
